The mountain mines were operated by the Hudson Coal Company as part of the Pine Ridge Colliery. They are located several miles southeast of the colliery and were connected by a narrow gauge railroad. At this time, several mine openings can be seen but all are filled in. There are many concrete remains scattered about the area.

Our photo showing the narrow gauge bridge which was part of the line going from the mountain mines to the breaker. This is under the route 315 bridge where Mill Creek passes underneath. This unique feature still stands in 2022.
