In 2007, the Underground Miners restored the West Orchard Gangway at the Pioneer Tunnel in Ashland, PA. The following shots are taken from various weekend work sessions with Howe, John, and Dave from the Pioneer Tunnel with Chris, Banks, and Adam from UGM. We started driving the West Orchard Gangway back to the face on January 14th, 2007. The work included replacing several timber sets in the beginning of the gangway, cleaning out and propping up one of the coal chutes, and retimbering the rest of the gangway. The project was completed in March of 2007 and can still be viewed on the tour of Pioneer Tunnel.
