Coal mining production did not always match demand. To account for this and steady production, processed, ready to sell coal was held in large storage yards. In times of higher demand, the coal reserves would be loaded to nearby rail lines and shipped to market. This example was located in Wyoming, between Swetland Lane and 8th Street. After the decline of anthracite, the site was used as temporary housing post Agnes flooding. Evidence of the streets and foundations of the FEMA site can still be seen today. The site is currently used by a RC model airplane club.
